Well, here is the past 15 months of my life with AT&T.

I basically live in a bunker.  Solid brick and cement building.  I also live in an area of Denver that does not allow the building of tower structures for OTA communications.  Fair enough.

So after many calls and many complaints to AT&T, and getting the typical “there isn’t anything we can do” BS, I’ve had it.  I kept threatening to my friends I’m going to switch providers and break the contract I currently have with 10 months left on it.  Empty threats!!!  Until…

9AM MST, August 26th 2008.  I drop my phone for the umpteenth time in the parking lot, only this time I finally broke it.  I can see about 1/3 of my screen, making the phone a technological piece of shit.  I can make and receive calls, if I can find the number in my phone.

10:15AM MST – I call AT&T customer care to find out if my phone is under warranty.  Nope.  What can we do?  Well, I could pay for a new phone, $400 roughly, and continue on with my shit service, or…

Qwest is now a Verizon Partner, reseller, slave, whatever term works.  So I figure, spend $200 to get a contract with Verizon, and the $175 to break my current AT&T contract.  Same amount of cash leaving my pocket, better result.

Hopefully it all works out – I might just have to go freaking postal if it doesn’t.  I will keep you posted.

I understand that 99% of the fault is my own, but poor service seems to be an acceptable standard in this country anymore, and it’s becoming VERY frustrating.  My service, along with thousands of other people in my area, but the canned response is, “Yeah, we know.  Sorry we just can’t do anything about it.”  No wonder douche bags like George W. Bush can not only get elected, but remain President for 8 years.
